Grilled Peaches for Under 70 calories

A wonderfully quick and simple dish for your sweet tooth without guilt with under 70 calories per peach (two halves). I used Splenda to decease the  calories but even with sugar  you will only add 45 calories per peach.

I started to think of this after a post on Nibble Me This. It looked great but wasn't quite what I wanted to do. First, today is the first day of our new diet and the sugar syrup and ice cream just would not do today. Second, I wanted simpler. So I winged it. I just cut them in halve, oiled, grilled one side, flipped and topped with mixture of Splenda and cinnamon and cooked indirectly until soft (internal temp was 165).
Rating: 9.5 for taste, ease and texture.

Notes: I used medium size peaches since they were the largest I could get. I have always hated to eat peach skin but this was not "fuzzy" after grilling and was fine. One of the peaches had a large bruise but you couldn't tell after grilling.
A medium peach is 59 calories and a large is 68 calories.
I well be making this one of our regular sides.

Tools: Very clean gas grill

Ingredients:
2 peaches - you will want large since they are so good
2 T granular Splenda/white sugar/or brown sugar
1 t cinnamon
Olive oil for brushing

Instructions:
1) Preheat grill on high. Clean very well and oil grate over one burner. Turn down to low prior to butting peaches on grill. Leave the other burners on high.

2) Wash peaches well, split along seam and remove pit.

3) Mix cinnamon and sugar (or Splenda) well in small bowl.

4) Bush all sides with oil.

5) Place peaches cut side down and grill for about 3 minutes until good grill marks are present.
6) Turn off burner (leaving other on for indirect grilling).

7) Flip peaches and apply 1/4 of cinnamon mixture to each half.

8) Grill until peaches  are soft and sugar mixture is melted. About 10-12 minutes more.

It would be great on a salad. I'm still amazed just how good this is and so little work if you're grilling already.

I saw some pears that looked like they might also like the grill treatment yesterday. Going to see how that works this weekend.

Good idea on the cinnamon/splenda blend.
